All cultures have fairy tales and folklore, stories that teach morality or emphasize the importance of not going into dark or dangerous places all by yourself. Some are so effective that they leave our siblings too terrified to go swimming in the ocean as kids, and, to this day, if I hear noises coming from under my bed in the middle of the night I’m high-tailing it out of my room and not coming back without some silver bullets or a wooden stake or a priest/rabbi/shaman or something. (What? Jaws and The Exorcist were what passed for fairy tales in my house growing up. Thanks, Dad.)
Like us, Afghans have myths and stories, legends and monsters. Overall, though, they tend to be a bit more superstitious than your average American. Not many Americans (openly) believe in fairies, dragons or headless horsemen. Until it’s dark anyway. And a whole lot of us still knock on wood or toss spilled salt over our left shoulders or even just say “bless you” when someone sneezes. They may be reflexive, but we still often do them.
Many Afghans, though, are pretty certain that the monsters of yore are still stomping around the earth. While out on a patrol with some local policemen, we came across this grave marker:
It was about 20 meters (about 65 feet) long. One of the policemen pointed at it and said, “This was a famous giant. He was almost 20 meters tall, that is why his grave is so long.”
“A giant?” I asked, perhaps a touch skeptically.
“Yes!” chimed in a second one. “As recently as 80 years ago, there were giants all over in this area!”
“Ah, so maybe just really tall people, like 2.5 meters (8-9 feet). That happens sometimes,” I replied.
“No, no!” a third guy insisted. “Not just tall people, real giants. This man was a small one at only 20 meters. Some were as tall as 30 meters (almost 100 feet)!”
I continued to be somewhat cynical, thinking they were pulling my leg and trying to suggest that if the grave marker was any indication of his size, he had been 20 meters tall, but really, really, really skinny.
Not only did my sarcasm fall on deaf ears, it actually insulted the Afghans. Before I knew it, I had a whole squad of Afghan police who were pretty angry and yelling at me. My interpreter, who had a university education and had lived abroad, was no exception–he was vehemently supporting them. As I stood there somewhat flabbergasted, one of my colleagues stepped in with our stories about giants, such as David and Goliath, and came across as much more open-minded. That mollified the crowd somewhat, and they explained that people’s grandparents had seen the giants and had told their grandchildren about them, so it must be true. In the end, the Afghans knew that giants had roamed the earth within living memory and nothing some disbelieving (female) American could say was going to change the truth.
In my defense, my interpreter later admitted that Afghans do get a kick out of misleading people, especially Americans, about goofy things like this, and had they been doing so, I would have earned super cool points for calling them out. It just happened that the one time I thought they were joking, they weren’t.
In addition to giants, I knew of one mountain nearby that was inhabited by a dragon, who flew around with a giant diamond in its mouth and would eat anyone who went up the mountain alone at night.
Not too far from that mountain was another one where evil dwarves lived, who would kill you if you went up their mountain alone at night.
(Lesson: don’t go up mountains alone at night.)
Last but not least are the djinn (no, they don’t grant wishes). In Islam, they are beings of fire created before humans. There are good djinn and evil djinn, Muslim djinn, Christian djinn and heathen djinn. And a lot of mischievous djinn. We can’t see them, but they’re everywhere, living under your stairs or in your garden or even your kitchen sink if you have one. And, like Americans and ghosts, most Afghans aren’t too troubled by djinn by the light of day. A good recitation of the first line of the Qur’an will scare them away, but once it gets dark…well, best not to take any chances.

Manna the food from God, the journey to salvation
I studied about manna today.
Read Scripture Exodus 16
When the Hebrews were set free from Egypt, it took them 40 years to enter the Holy Land, due to their punishment by God for worshiping a golden calf while Moses was obtaining the 10 Commandments.
Through it all God protected them and sent them food from heaven called manna to sustain them through their journey.
The manna fell 6 days a week. on the 6th day they were to gather enough for 2 days in order to follow God's commandment on keeping the Sabbath.
It fell with the dew and it melted as it warmed up.
It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.

Each person was allowed 1 omer (6016 `omer o'-mer from 6014; properly, a heap, i.e. a sheaf; also an omer, as a dry measure:--omer, sheaf.) If they had any left over it was to be thrown away or it would get worms in it.
They had to start over everyday except the Sabbath and that was the only day worms did not infest day old manna.
I have always pictured bread falling from the sky, not flakes or grain which is what the bible describes it as.

The people went around gathering it,and then ground it in a hand mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil.
The people grew tired of the manna and wanted meat. This angered God. After he delivered them from Egypt and fed them, they AGAIN were not happy with what God had done for them, so God gives them so much meat that they eat it for a month until they loathe it because they rejected the Lord who was among them, saying “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’

Jesus tells the crowd he is the bread of life from heaven, as they grumbled about his words he tells them that their ancestors ate manna and perished, but those who eat the bread of life (Yeshua) will have eternal life.

In Revelations it says that he who overcometh and has ears to hear will get to eat of the hidden manna.
When we get saved from being satan's slave, we hunger for God, but instead of turning to the Lord for all our answers we look to other men to feed us God. We confuse spiritual hunger with how the human body hungers. That is how organized religion came about, because the hunger to worship is there and if the preacher says to worship a golden calf then that's what happens. We are too impatient to put in the time and pray for guidance of the Holy Spirit, but if we take the time and build our personal relationship with Jesus HE WILL feed that hunger we desire! We hunger for manna, the food of heaven. Not only will our hunger be filled but it is a satisfying fulfillment. Then as soon as we slack off the hunger grows for something different, It is not because the Lord is not feeding you, it is because you stopped going to him to eat! NOW YOU WANT MEAT! Well, he will give you all the meat you can stand, but then you get all mad because God is disciplining you, and feel like why did I ever leave my old ways to start with because this is not the fun part of loving God??? Not even realizing that if God punishes you that he truly loves you like we love our children when we punish them! Then when he TRIES to reveal truths to us like JESUS WAS THE MANNA ALL ALONG, you don't believe him because you have let your preacher speak louder than the Lord. Then that's it, you either learn to submit to the Lord and his Holy Spirit for the word or you close your ears to the divine and listen to a human who has as many faults as you or more, leading you astray and you are disobedient! That is why in Revelations 2 it says, 17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
Be blessed and rely on the Father for your understanding! This is a warning and it is a blessing "for those who have the ears to hear." God bless you all, and I love you so very much!

Russian Leader Warns, “Get All Money Out Of Western Banks Now!”

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) “urgent bulletin” being sent to Embassies around the world today is advising both Russian citizens and companies to begin divesting their assets from Western bankingand financial institutions “immediately” as Kremlin fears grow that both the European Union and United States are preparing for the largest theft of private wealth in modern history.
According to this “urgent bulletin,” this warning is being made at the behest of Prime Minister Medvedev who earlier today warned against the Western banking systems actions against EU Member Cyprus by stating:
“All possible mistakes that could be made have been made by them, the measure that was proposed is of a confiscation nature, and unprecedented in its character. I can’t compare it with anything but … decisions made by Soviet authorities … when they didn’t think much about the savings of their population. But we are living in the 21st century, under market economic conditions. Everybody has been insisting that ownership rights should be respected.”
Medvedev’s statements echo those of President Putin who, likewise, warned about the EU’s unprecedented private asset grab in Cyprus calling it “unjust, unprofessional, and dangerous.”
In our 17 March report “Europe Recoils In Shock After Bankster Raid, US Warned Is Next” we noted how Russian entities have €23-31 billion ($30-$40) in cross-border loans to Cypriot companies tied to Moscow, and €9 billion ($12 billion) on deposit with Cypriot banks [as compared to the €127 billion ($166 billion) being kept in similar circumstances by 60 of the United States largest corporations in offshore accounts to avoid paying American taxes] which are in danger of being confiscated by EU banksters.
