Israeli planes were sent out to spray pesticides over crops and farmland to
protect them from the rapacious insects heading into northern Israel Tuesday.
Farmers have been on locust alert, using an emergency hot line for sightings,
since the swarm entered southern Israel from Egypt after devastating crops
there.
